Graduate admissions tests (GMAT and GRE) are used by many universities in the United States and Canada to assess an applicant's ability for master's degree study.  However, at times these exams can become an obstacle for international students.  Find out how you can pursue a master's degree without a GRE or GMAT exam at number of universities in the United States and Canada.

For all students, the GMAT and GRE exams are challenging tests covering verbal, quantitative, and integrated reasoning skills, but for non-native English speakers they can be a barrier to master's degree admission in North America.

International students have an alternative. They can join a Pre-Master's Program and receive a conditional offer for a master's degree in the USA or Canada, without a GMAT or GRE exam required on entry.

Preparation for master's degrees

During the Pre-Master's Program, you may need to prepare for the GMAT or GRE and take the relevant test in the USA, but only after intensive training and English language support. Some universities will require you to schedule a GRE/GMAT test date after completion of the Pre-Master's Program, and prior to enrolling full-time in your master's degree program. A number of universities like Merrimack and Royal Roads University however do not require a GMAT or GRE test before enrolling into a Masters program.

High quality GMAT preparation, focusing on the unique challenges for international students. Integrated Reasoning specifically tests the skills you use to analyze information from multiple sources of information and solve reasoning problems. International students must be able to read and understand information very quickly – you can expect up to four question types during the integrated reasoning section including graphics interpretation, two-part analysis, table analysis, and multi-source reasoning.

Your ability to be successful on the Integrated Reasoning section of the GMAT exam is an important indicator of your potential for success in the Business school or MBA classroom.
