Social life

Oglethorpe students are ambitious, with their talents and interests reflecting their multicultural backgrounds. This diversity inspires the great opportunities for personal growth that the university provides outside of the classroom.

From over 38 countries around the world and across the United States, OU students take part in over 50 clubs and organizations. Whether you are enthusiastic about film, have political ambitions, enjoy dancing, or almost anything else, you will find a group that will welcome you. Culture lovers enjoy three major exhibitions a year at the Oglethorpe Museum of Art, and theatrical productions at the University Theatre.

For both fans and athletes, sports are an important part of university life. Over a third of OU students play a sport, and sixteen OU teams compete at intercollegiate level. Offerings include basketball, cross-country, golf, lacrosse, track and field, and more.

Home life

As an OU undergraduate you will live on campus for three years in one of the university’s seven residence halls. Designed to meet the needs of students, OU residences are modern, comfortable and secure.

Sophomore students and up can enjoy resort style living at Oglethorpe’s Gable Apartments.
