An independent, accredited college, Sierra Nevada College is located in an alpine mountain community on the north shore of beautiful Lake Tahoe. SNC values the uniqueness of the individual within a greater community and the spirit of entrepreneurship in itself and its students.
At Sierra Nevada College, a liberal arts education is combined with professional preparation through an interdisciplinary curriculum which emphasizes environmental, social, economic, and cultural responsibility and sustainability. Students are taught to think critically and communicate effectively in order to pursue a lifetime of achievement and success.
Sierra Nevada College's spectacular location is used to the fullest:
- a nearby alpine meadow or mountain peak provides the sort of hands-on experience students at other schools can only read about
- the wide variety of business enterprises in the area inspire concentrations in Ski Business and Resort Management and Hotel Restaurant and Resort Management
- the Music and Art Departments draw from the rich resource of artists, musicians, and performing arts events in the Lake Tahoe region
- Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences (shared with U.C. Davis) provides a world-class center for scientific research and education in the understanding of alpine lakes and the preservation of the environmental quality of such important resources

Departments of Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Science, Business, and Science and Technology offer fourteen majors. Sierra Nevada College awards the Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BS), Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA).

Sierra Nevada College campus has a dining hall, new library, entertainment technology lab, computer lab, career center, bookstore, and counseling services. Monthly activities are a regular part of the student calendar. Depending on the season, this could be a hike or a cross-country skiing adventure, trips to see professional sports teams play, poetry nights, or a visit to a museum.
Sports and outdoor adventure
SNC athletes have a unique opportunity to take advantage of amazing skiing and riding conditions on the greatest terrain in the west. The Sierra Nevada College ski team has been the national college champion for the last consecutive ten years. Throughout the year, students can also pursue other outdoor endeavors such as backpacking, rockclimbing, mountain biking, wakeboarding and river rafting.
Students are welcome to use the Incline Village Recreation Center, just a a short walk from campus, with its 37,000 square foot, first-class gym, indoor swimming pool, and ball courts.
Accommodation

State-of-the-art residence halls at Sierra Nevada College are more like beautiful ski lodges than dorms. There are two halls that offer warm bright living space:
Campbell-Friedman Hall is home to 50 students. All rooms are furnished with a single bed, desk, chair and wardrobe unit, and have individual cable and phone hook-ups. The facility has terrific views. There is a laundry facility, student lounge, and game room.
Prim-Schultz Hall offers double-occupancy rooms, each with a private bathroom, and a creek or mountain view. The residence hall has two giant student lounges, study spaces, an elevator, ski-tuning area, a laundry facility, giant lockers for personal equipment, and cable television hookups, as well as internet access and phone connections for each resident.

Lake Tahoe
The College is located in Incline Village, an alpine community on the north shore of Lake Tahoe - a true national treasure whose expansive, crystal blue waters reflect the rugged beauty of the Sierra Nevada mountains.
To some, Lake Tahoe is a recreational wonderland made up of world-class resorts and intense natural beauty. For Sierra Nevada College students, Tahoe is a laboratory for learning, where altitude and attitude come together to create a truly unique atmosphere for studying liberal arts.
Nearby cities
Just an hour away from Sierra Nevada College to the north east is the lively resort city of Reno - a thriving metropolis of over 200,000 inhabitants. Reno offers shopping, dining, theatre, river kayaking, world class entertainment and an international airport.
30 miles to the south east is the state capital, Carson City, offering an array of shopping, restaurants and cultural events ranging from Native American Pow-wows to the symphony.
To the west, the capital of California, Sacramento, is an easy two hour drive away and the world class attractions of San Francisco are just four hours away by road.
